Hi, I am Ahlayn Labuanan and I am your child's First Grade teacher. I have been teaching for the past 18 years. This is my seventh year here at Pomaika'i Elementary. My first two years I taught 5th grade, the next two years I had the opportunity to work as the ELA Curriculum Coordinator and in 2015 I found my way back into the classroom taking on the challenge of teaching first grade! I have always wanted to teach children how to read so when the opportunity to teach first grade came my way I had to jump on it.
I graduated from Chaminade University in 1997 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. I continue to keep up to date with current practices by taking classes and workshops that are offered to teachers through out the year.
My husband and I have three beautiful children, Destiny, Mikah and Micah. Destiny attends Kamehameha Maui as a seventh grader, Micah attends Kamehameha Maui as a second grader and Mikah attends Pomaika'i Elementary as a fifth grader. I love spending time with my family. You can always find us at the beach or a sporting event.
Here are some of my favorites:
T.V. Show: Chicago Fire
Food: Any seafood and fruit
Hobbies: Crafting and Playing Volleyball
Book: The Giving Tree
Music: Pop and Hawaiian
